I'm always just a tiny bit worried about being judged for my musical choices, since I'm not really one of the cool kids. But I decided to share anyway. This is the music that feeds my portrayal of Balthazar, for the most part. I've linked youtube vids in case anyone wants a listen, but they're not necessarily the official videos, so just ignore the visuals.
Vertigo (U2)
Hello, hello…I’m at a place called vertigo. It’s everything I wish I didn’t know… Video
This is more about Balthazar’s public persona, a mix of cynicism and chaotic thrill-seeking, with desperation underlying it all.
Fly Away (Lenny Kravitz)
I want to get away. I want to fly away...with you. Video
Leaving to Stay (Jonny Lang)
I've been waiting for the glory of the coming of the Lord. I've heard a lot of stories, but my prayers have been ignored. Video
Like a prayer (SNC cover)
I hear you call my name, and it feels like home… Video
Damn, this is a pretty cover, and Balthazar would totally approve of a musical group called ‘Straight No Chaser’. There’s adoration here, and regret.
You found me (the Fray)
Where were you, when everything was falling apart? Video
Familial betrayal and lost love starts at the top and works all the way down.
Devotion (Indigo Girls)
One day moves into two, and I’m losing everything except for you. I would sing you a song of devotion. That’s what I should do. Video
Still, somehow, Balthazar is willing to give up everything for one brother who never seemed to understand quite how much he meant.
It's probably me (Sting)
When the world's gone crazy, and it makes no sense
And there's only one voice that comes to your defense
And the jury's out
And your eyes search the room
And one friendly face is all you need to see
If there's one guy, just one guy
Who'd lay down his life for you and die
I hate to say it
I hate to say it
But it's probably me. Video
See above. Balthazar’s tragic flaw is how his devotion to a person outweighs his devotion to their ideals. Or his own. He’s not sure he likes that about himself.
Lost my faith (Seal)
If you ever need me, all you gotta do is fall. Video
Most of the angels seem to be in the process of losing their faith, and yet some of them still cling to one another.
