It doesn't matter how ancient or ageless an angel is, how powerful they are, how clever or wise. Hurt is hurt. Just like Balthazar always suspected. He would never have approached his own world's Lucifer with softness, knowing what he did to Gabriel, but he's sure he's wounded, as well.
It seems terribly unfair. Even worse, because there's no sign of anything to remedy it coming any time in the future.
He's afraid of saying anything further, sensing Lucifer's sorrow. He holds onto him gently, stroking his hair and making no objection to the bloody tears. All he's got to give here is compassion, but apparently that's a rare thing for Lucifer to come by.
"Can...can you just stay here?" He asks after a moment, soft and uncertain, fully expecting the answer to be 'no', but needing to ask nonetheless. "I've got an apartment. You're welcome there any time."
