By the time Balthazar's done with his task, several guards have fled and four wardens are fighting amongst themselves, creating plenty of distraction to allow him to return to Gadreel's side.
He's bruised and molting from the conflict, but intact and armed with an extra blade, which he offers to Gadreel. "Are we ready? It will take Grace from all of us to punch through."
