Balthazar views all material possessions as toys, except for his art and art supplies. He doesn't need any of them--food and water included--to exist on the earth, but shopping, owning things, and enjoying things like clothing and meals and soft furniture fills up the time. Besides, it makes interacting with humans smoother sometimes, to acquire and discard and partake of pop culture.

If Lucifer is going to kiss his cheek, Balthazar will just steal a second kiss on the lips, close-mouthed and gentle so as not to derail their plans. "All right," he says softly. "I'll be able to hear you, of course. Give me a moment here..."

Sinking back into the couch cushions, he closes his eyes, almost as if meditating. There may be some internal dialogue going on. It takes a couple minutes, surprisingly, longer than one might expect, but at length there's a notable shift in body language. Where Balthazar carries himself with deliberate, indolent confidence, Levi droops a little, back not quite as straight, shoulders tired. His hands have a subtle shake and almost at once he's picking at the hem of the blazer's sleeve, not quite pulling out the stitches. He opens one eye, then the other, looking around at last, taking in the entirety of their surroundings with uncertain, soft blue eyes.

He clears his throat and glances at Lucifer rather timidly. "Uh...hey." Gone is the mishmash European-and-American accent Balthazar uses, replaced with Brooklyn and hints of a childhood in London. "I mean, hello."
