He closes his eyes. What could Michael possibly be thinking? Deserting the planet and the Plan after all this time, after all the lives lost? He must have gone mad. There's no other reasonable explanation.

"But Castiel is down there somewhere," he adds. "And there must still be some humans, as well. Innocent ones. Going to the earth is probably suicide, but any of our options mean death at this point. I think I'd rather throw in my lot there."

He looks up at Gadreel, his gaze almost a plea. "So. Coming with?"
