Balthazar would be lying if he said he wasn't intrigued by Gadreel's story. Sometimes in the brief moments they interact between torment and labor, he's itching to ask what really happened. Did he feel sorry for Lucifer? Did he just want to think the best of their beautiful archangel brother? Was he afraid?

But in this place, they're all a little unstable, a bit too close to the edge of breaking one way or another. It's more important to be kind. If unsatisfied curiosity makes the difference between a living, functional angel and one consumed by guilt, Balthazar is willing to go forever not knowing. He's a bit shy about his own backstory, anyway. The few who've bothered to ask were simply told he was tired of watching brothers and sisters die.

Balthazar glances to where two guards are talking, their Graces muted the better not to be overheard, then turns back to Gadreel. "It's a word game. One person thinks of something, and the other has twenty questions to guess what they're thinking of. Yes or no questions, like, 'is it a living thing?'. Care to play? Or would you rather speculate with me on what exactly has everyone stirred up today?"

Preferably both, because a silly word game is a decent cover if someone does happen to notice they're chatting.
